eUpgrades and empty exec cabin
Flying SFO - YVR right now. Waitlisted for an upgrade 7 days ago, but wasn't expecting it because flight was zero across the board.
Asked at the gate about my upgrade, and was told everything was full.
Boarding is now complete, and there are empty seats in both exec and economy cabins. Blargh.

I was reading of a similar story on Twitter, and I read the following, which I believe is the reason:
If only AC had told me that... I would just buy their damn sandwich, but I still want my J seat.

I know I've posted the stories in here before ... but I've had an eUp not clear and then seen empty seats in J and approached the SD and they've reseated me in to J. Has happened at least twice on TATL flights now.

You don't necessarily give up your upgrade when you board. I have been seated twice where the GA ended up coming on board and letting me know that my upgrade cleared when boarding was almost finished.
