I make my living in sales......and Rupert is a salesman....he stuck around being nice and chatty....trying to schmooze us.....I do it all the time to my clients.

Substance was limited.
I thank him for the effort...but recognize it for what it was. I also recognize that he's not responsible for the AC product...just Aeroplan...and the AC product is half the equation.
It's UA all the way.

Did I miss anything?
A comment to AC in general: if you ask for feedback, but do not do anything about it, you'd be better off not asking in the first place.

Im in Europe but did not get up early enough and missed a bit of the beginning. Internet connection was slow on my end and spent the 45 minutes nodding off or fighting to keep awake.
I have to give RD credit for coming on FT after all the abuse he has taken.
Ill have to go through the transcripts so to catch what I missed.
As far as additional changes to the program this year, Ill go through the transcripts, but what I saw...I would have to say that what we see now is what well get until capital expenditures with AC IT expands.
Cheers

After just having had a 5 hour drive to think about it, I find that in the end I am disheartened. Not because of the content, or lack of, even though it was a disappointment.
It's because the chat convinced me that the people running Aeroplan have no concept of what a loyalty program is or should be, so how can they understand the issues? Like being asked why the charge for a simple date change to an award ticket, only to be told that too many SEs and Es were abusing the system by making multiple bookings, with upgrades. Huh?
But what's even worse is they have no clue what their competition is, such as the quip about AA only offering 50% miles "systemwide." AC still has this rose coloured view of their world, that Aeroplan and Air Canada are so far ahead everyone else, that "everyone else" isn't even competition for them.
All is lost.

I submitted 3 and got 1 answered -- my guess is the moderator allocated a max of 1 per participant

OK. I've read the transcript now.
And I'm still not changing my mind.
I deal with people like this all the time; smarmy marketing types that don't answer questions and allude to things like "I heard" or "I believe" e.g. as some have already pointed out, the comments about WestJet and AA.
Long story short, Mark Twain once said "there are lies, ****ed lies, and statistics". I think you all heard a lot of statistics... like that 30% one, for instance.
Sorry, Rupert. I can't "wait the year to see if the benefit changes are good or not". I have to make my decision NOW because I have to start accumulating my miles for my tier status beginning January 1... and you forced me to make that decision by the end of December with the fumbling around you did then.
I'll enjoy my SE status for this year, but doubt that I will even attain Basic status by the end of the year.... everything goes to MP (even with it's warts....)
Maybe I'll try your program again in 2003....
