Expedia Automatic Tango Plus?
I've had two friends tell me that when they've booked AC flights on Expedia they've ended up with Tango Plus. Anyone had that experience?

This is not the case anymore.
In the past I have had great luck getting T+ through expedia, but my last cross country/transborder journey through expedia booked in P which was tango. Was not happy at all that I missed out on 2500+ miles!
you have to look closely at the fare rules and regulations which is hyper-linked (usually on the 2nd or 3rd page of the booking), and look closely at what the first letter in the Fare Code is.
The list of fare codes and what class they book into are listed under the AC FAQ stickied at the top of this forum.
But expect to see more T as they seem to be rolling this on all third party travel sites.

I'd booked a TPAC trip on AC through Expedia, and they are T fares. You have to check the fare class in the details closely, as there are definitely T fares up for sale. Expect your friend may have been looking at routes that haven't been Tangoized yet (i.e. some transborder routes).

I know they used to do this as they advertised "all fares provide air miles", so this would naturally exclude all Tango fares.
I just did a sample booking (YVR YEG) and compared against aircanada.com. Sure enough they only sure the AC Flex fares, so you get 10 WestJet, and then at the higher price point, AC.
This just makes AC look bad. Many non-frequently flyers use expedia to book flights and they'll always see AC's fares higher than WestJet, not necessarily caring if they're booking Tango or Flex.

Expedia.ca seems sporadic at best. Sometimes it shows only T+ and sometime it most definitely shows T. I've often booked packages on expedia.ca for friends/employees as well to save a bit on hotels and it's even more complicated in that case as the fare class is not shown before booking, only the price before the discount. And even when the flight was clearly the Tango price, I ended up with T+ anyways. Dunno how or why but that has been my experience with packages only.
Otherwise, it's easy to check the fare class before purchase as other have pointed out.
