Average segment length
Looking over my data for 2012 vs 2011, I was surprised to see how similar my "average segment length" (=Status miles/Status segments) was for each year:
2012: 80420/42 = 1915
2011: 123423/60 = 2057
How does this compare to others?

If your destinations are consistent, you'd expect the average mileage to be consistent as well
That being said my average is barely above the 500 minimum

Status miles/No. of segments: 2620.
However this does not include the effect of minimum miles or COS bonus, or segments which gained no miles (something like 6), or gained less than 100%.
AC only, without CAS but including some four segments with minimum 500 miles, 2692.
AC+others Star, not including CAS, not counting no accumulation segments in the count, 2173. Why less? Mainly because a good number of inter-European segments, which are short, and some only got 50%.

I remember years when my average was ~7000 miles.
This year my average will be 0. Or lower.

37,947 status miles for 51 segments in 2011 => 744 miles/segment
64,898 status miles for 52 segments in 2012 => 1,248 miles/segment
A big 68% increase over 2011
45% Domestic / 43% USA / 12% International (ratio by segments, not miles)

60621 status miles / 57 segments = 1063 miles / seg for me.
All status miles in 2012 were domestic/transborder with a fair number of 500 mile minimums thrown in the mix as well.
