Help with schedule changes

Hi,

A few months ago I booked a 50% off YYZ-BOS weekend away / segment run

I booked Saturday Nov 17

AC 416 YYZ-YUL @ 3pm
AC 7686 YUL - BOS @ 5:55pm

Return

Sunday November 18

AC 8049 BOS-YOW @ 3:50pm
AC 463 YOW-YYZ @ 6PM

Now, looking online I see several schedule changes:
No more AC 416, replaced with 418 that leaves little time to connect on 7686

Return

8049 now leaves at 5:50 instead of 3:50 and would miss 463

My questions:

How flexible are my options to change my reservation given these schedule changes?

I'd like to:
Maximize segments
preferably leave from YTZ instead of YYZ
Leave Friday instead of Saturday

What should I know before I call?

Thanks

YTZ - should be easy
Maxime segments - not sure what you have in mind
Leave Friday - doesn't hurt to try, but it's not that likely

Help with schedule changes

I've never tried to change departure dates, and I doubt most agents would let that fly with the relatively small schedule changes you mention.

I've also never changed origins, but they may go for it if there is availability. The automated "online rebooking tool" for travel advisories often lets you select other airports in the same metropolitan area.

I have changed connection points before.

YMMV on all of this, but it doesn't hurt to ask for what you want. Have something ready to propose to the agent rather than having the agent select something for you. Have alternatives ready as well, or be prepared to call back and try another agent if you're not satisfied. Another agent may be more flexible or simply confirm that your proposed change cannot be accommodated. For what it's worth, I've always been able to resolve schedule changes to my satisfaction.

YTZ is easy - most tickets allow early standby from either airport on the same ticket, so you could always just show up at YTZ for a flight a few hours before your YYZ one is scheduled.

I've heard rumors of this but haven't actually known anyone to do this. Can it be done on reverse as well? Ie standby at YUL for a flight to YTZ instead of YYZ?

Thanks for the help everyone, I switched to YTZ-BOS and return without any issues.

One point I'll give to anyone else with sched changes is to make sure you remain in Tango Plus or above if that's what you booked (not Tango)

Did they go for your change from Saturday to Friday?

Question another schedule change query

I have a related schedule change question.............

On a T+ restricted trans-border fare, will AC provide a full refund? I know UA will do so, but I read the t's+c's (see below) and I am doubtful if AC ever allows a full refund?

Schedules and timetables
Time and aircraft type shown in timetables or elsewhere are approximate and not guaranteed, and form no part of the contract. Schedules are subject to change without notice and carrier assumes no responsibility for passenger making connections not included as part of the itinerary set out in the ticket. Carrier is not responsible for changes, errors or omissions either in timetables or other representations of schedules.

Sure they will refund.

Schedules are not guaranteed. However if the implement a schedule change that does not fit your needs anymore, they have no real choice but allowing for canceling.
