To me it is worth it for LH F. I look at it as a discounted ticket. Same with OZ, NH, TG. I can even rationalize it for LX J (and likely for OS new J) for the quality product. For AC though...you've got to be kidding!

My advice to you is to take this routing.
YYZ-JFK AC
JFK-IST TK
IST-BKK TK
You can stop in Istanbul if you want.

uhm tried to look at flights from YOW to LHR/CDG over new years Dec 28 to Jan 9th.
Found biz reward using AE with AC from YOW to LHR and back from CDG for 90K AE miles plus 581.83 in charges.
Checked with my UA account and found the same flights for
100K UA miles plus 188 in taxes and fees.

That is actually remarkably low for AC to Europe! I guess the YQ is only $400!
At least in biz, there is some value, if you were booking in Y, the points would actually have a negative value, and you'd be paying AC to fly using your points!

Took me about an hour of playing to find it. Found first choice for outbound but 2 days later than hoped on return. Also took CDG for return to avoid the ridiculous UK departure tax for biz.

I agree.
The scamcharges are way too high these days for bookings.
I would pay for LH F but AC biz pods...no way!
I have kept memos of scamcharges and on the same routes and I can honestly say that in one year they have gone 3x the rate for the exact same flights.
I'm really piXXed off with AP right now and avoid them due to these scamcharges.
