Why can you do OLCI from some airports and not others?

Always been curious about this...

I see the OLCI (on-line check in) list of airports includes some really small locations, but some other places with 3-4 direct AC flights a day (MSP for example) you can't do OLCI (nor can you use the online missing mileage form from Aeroplan... linked I'm guessing to the fact that you can't OLCI).

Any ideas what governs whether you can or can't check in online?

It's not the size of the airport that matters. At certain airports, check-in functions are handled by UA, in UA's systems, so you can't check in through AC.

Really brings into focus that the "seamless travel" crapola that the PR hacks threw out in droves 15 years back when *A began to this day remains a load of crock.
