Using Canpass at YVR

I recently got a Canpass, and though the kiosk at YVR is closed, the person issuing them told me she thought that it was possible for Canpass holders to use the Diplomat/Crew line. Since YVR immigration lines can be a nightmare (in my experience), I'd like to know if anybody has tried this, and succeeded?

I don't hold a CANPASS, but I would imagine that if they've closed the line, they've done so for a reason.

If you're feeling lucky, I'd try it. Just practise the phrase, "Oops, I'm sorry."

nothing to declare,

When I was a diplomat, I found that YVR was particularly sticky about access to that line--I often had to show my passport to a "watcher" before even getting to the desk.

Worst that can happen is that you get sent to the back of the (long) line, though.
