quick question
This is the first time my wife and I are traveling on AC and transiting through Canada. We're leaving from PDX to LHR and connecting via YYZ. Do we have to clear customs in YYZ? Thanks for the help.

Keep your eye out for the INTL connections sign as you approach the funnel for the customs hall; it is on your left before you go down the stairs

OP, you got good directions above, but the signage in YYZ's Terminal 1 was changed a couple of weeks ago.
Instead of looking for a sign that reads "International Connections", look for a sign directing you to the "E" gates. As mentioned above, you go through a quick document check only--no need to claim checked baggage or to reclear security. On the PDX-YYZ flight you'll be given a Canadian customs/immigration form, and you'll need it to pass the immigration counter that leads to the "E" (international departures) gates. Depending on where your flight from PDX parks, you'll probably complete the process and be at the departure gate for the LHR flight within 15 minutes or so of arriving YYZ.

Thanks Spounce, you are right
I wonder how much was spent on consultants to confirm that "International Connections" is too confusing a message to guide people to international connections, whereas "E gates" is completely intuitive

On return from LHR to PDX, you will pre-clear U.S. CBP procedures at YYZ. No Canadian immigration and custom procedures. There will be no further formalities on arrival at PDX. Please read information at this link:
