WS adding YSB from YHM
Buried in that announcement for service to YTH (Thompson, Manitoba) and YAM (Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario) from YWG (Winnipeg) was a new service from YHM (Hamilton) to YSB (Sudbury, Ontario) starting 12 December. The frequency is 2x daily on weekdays. Fares start from $79+ tax/fees OW.

mtacchi,
Unless I have seriously misread the new security mandates, WS would be breaking all kinds of rules by letting anyone, other than a TransCanada official, ride the jumpseat. AC had a program of jumpseat swapping for pilots of other airlines and it is no longer allowed.

I understand that AC has stopped their JS Policy temporarly, I did West Jet the other day though. I do have a Air Crew Security Pass and my licence and had no difficulty. A major difference with the West Jet system is that they check you in @ the counter with a ticket that says JS and $0.00. With Ac , I always had to weasel to the gate, many agents would refuse to help or say it wasn't possible. In one situation a friend of mine had given me the seat and the agent wouldn't let me board. She said he had changed his mind. He came up the ramp at the end of boarding and wondered what was taking so long with me and had to escort me to cockpit. Agent had lied. For no other reason that she didn't think it was right for another pilot who didn't work for AC to get the seat. West is tops in this department.

My son had a chance to jumpseat into YYZ this
summer on an AC DC9.
Thanks for the heads up on West Jet.I am certain that he will ask the question.
He has called with some neat stories since
September 11th and how it impacts him,even in his training at Moncton.

I might be dating myself a little,but I remember those days as well.It seems Air Canada was able to FILL those DC9 aircraft.(there were only 3-4 flights per day)Do you recall the fare paid?

airbus320;
10 years ago GX had a business fare to YYZ for $250.00.(same day round trip)This was a discount business fare,inventory controlled.(full Y was $350.00)These prices were held from the jet service levels. GX could make up in frequency what AC was doing in volume.Todays roundtrip Y is nearing $800.00.
