Requesting AC eUGs on codeshare (AC metal)

I'm on one of these crazy AC/SN cheapo flights to Brussels tomorrow. Requested upgrade (and cleared) for first leg, LGA-YUL.

But 2nd leg (YUL-BRU) is saying the upgrade is only available when I check in. It's not letting me do OLCI yet.

I finally broke down and called, and the agent said for a codeshare like this (even though it's on AC metal), I can only request the upgrade at the desk in YUL.

Is this true?

Thanks, experienced AC'ers. Would love to finally use my eUGs before I lose my Elite status at the end of the month...

Thanks kindly, Stranger. I will now stop twitching and reloading and wondering whether I should call again. Ahhh.

when doing OLCI be sure to check if the request upgrade button is available, you might be able to request it then when check in opens up at T-24 instead of at the airport

I was flying PEK->FRA->YYZ->YYJ on an LH ticket (LH PEK->FRA, AC metal FRA->YYJ, and yes I know that's the wrong way around), I wound up calling the concierge at FRA and had her put in the upgrade requests for me ex FRA. Thankfully I made it.

Talking about wrong way, these thinds happen. I once flew NRT-CAN-FRA-YYC. Happened that I had a C return CAN-FRA. So I used it.
