Latest Concierge runaround. IRROP change from yyc/yul/CDG to yyc/yyz/CDG. Told concierge will meet me yyz to facilitate gate and luggage transfer. No concierge shows up. Assured bag will transfer ok at the gate. Arrived CDG. No bag. Cornered a concierge. Went through usual ritual. Concierge gives me a card with a contact number FOR HIM. Called the number. Toronto answers. Can I get a number for CDG concierge? No. Your case has been transferred to Priority Search. Can I talk to them? No. Central concierge will send them email. How do I reach Priority Search? They will contact you. No bags, no local concierge service. Still sleeping in my underwear in Paris. Back to Canada Saturday. Ah, AC loves email. Avoids the phone. Bad for profits.

Delayed flight YUL-YVR due to mechanical. Missed my connection to YYJ. No concierge at gate, so called the concierge line. They offered to email the YVR concierge team. I know from previous experience that the YVR concierge team goes home after AC33 departs, and I arrived after midnight. She couldn't help me with anything beyond emailing the YVR team, so I said I'd book my own hotel.
I called 4 hotels, they were all full. (couldn't search online as it was after midnight so I couldn't select anything but 'tomorrow night'.) It was down to 6 hours before my morning flight, so I gave up and slept on the terminal floor. I should have slept by the AC checkin with a sign that said "I'm Super Elite and this is what I get". I emailed AC and haven't heard back. I canceled my Latitude flight to Europe for tomorrow, it felt good. I know it griping, but the new system of a central concierge desk is just terrible. Doesn't seem like they can do anything but flight changes. Last I checked, I could get flight changes done by the reservations line. |

They've pretty well fired me. I still have SE and find some benefits for Canadian domestic travel. I got fired last fall, as over 60% of my travel will not count for AQD. I get that I don't fit the profile of an ideal customer, but I still have SE status for another year and two days, hopefully they can figure out this concierge value proposition.

What can a Concierge do? Will do? Not much This program is seriously broken....only works well for VIPs and most if not all of the great Concierges have quit or gone on to other jobs Very sad |
What can Concierge do? Save your butt in the time of need(late/weather/cancelled flights/etc). They will not deal with entitlement, Ex SE's, breaking the rules or people that think they are important. Want to hear the BS they go though, hang out their office and you will laugh at the crazy request and demands they get.

I'm a current SE, and they did not save my butt the other night. Actually made zero effort to save my butt. Since the advent of the central call centre concierge service, I have not had my butt saved once and calling them seems more hassle than it is worth.

- the decline in service of this "perk" or program - the fact that most posters do not get their butt saved when needed - and, that the last thing I do at the airport is spend my time hanging out at the Concierge lounge |

Hanging out at their office seems to be the key.
I will now book longer connection times into my day so I can do this Lol |

I would say the central phone service is a negative. When airports are busy, checking in at the concierge office saves time. Sorry to hear about your bad service, but the 2 or 3 x per year I use them, service has been great.
I am also sad to see so many great Concierge staff quit or relocate |
Screw-up by YYZ-conceierges
Hi all,
I was extremely disappointed with the YYZ-concierge service last Wednesday morning. I am an SE and was going off the 'red-eye' from YYC (where I received exceptional service). Apparently due to weather conditions many flights that morning, especially to the USA, were cancelled. This was apparently known as I disembarked from the YYC flight to make my way to the Transborder area. However, there was no one to meet me telling me there would be a problem. Typically that happens. So, as I am getting through US customs and security I am told that my flight to ORD was cancelled. I made my way up to the MapleLeaf Lounge and asked the agent there what they were going to do about my flight. Basically, she said I should go downstairs and 'look for a United Agent' as I was on a United flight (It was their metal but a code-share). She also told me I had a United Ticket. I had a 014 ticket which is Air Canada. So, I asked her to call the concierge service for me. Finally, they did it. No help what so ever. I was again told go find a United agent. I had thought at the very least the YYZ Concierge would get in contact with a United agent and have them meet me somewhere. But no, just go search. I found the Air Canada help desk downstairs, they were fantastic. They were very disappointed to hear of my lack of response from the YYZ-conceierges; after all, they said they have been trained to do so! Any way, they found me a United agent, who was very helpful. All that was needed was a piece pf paper taking me off the United flight (why I was till on it when it was cancelled is a whole other story!). So, I made the Air Canada flight to ORD, but only because some really nice non-concierge people helped me out. I'm terribly disappointed. Any idea to who I should write to? Thanks. |
