How much/ often do you fly?

Hey Guys,

I started flying last year and thought I was the King of the World flying 70-80k an year.
Then I was introduced to FT and realized, wow, Some of you are insane travellers.

So how much do you guys fly every year?

Cheers,

Vishazz

70k-80k is still 3x around the world and definitely more than most other people do, and most people who do fly that much do so mostly for work.

All of my travel is pretty much for pleasure or family-related (not that those two are necessarily mutually exclusive, but most of the time they are) and somehow I managed to fly 200k BIS miles this year, but certainly won´t be doing that much next year.

Me it's 200K BIS miles too. However, some of those are on points redemptions. Probably 170K or so paid miles this year.

OTOH, most Elites seem to think that after flying 35K-50K in a year, they are kings and have flown soooo much... LOL!

well no, most are insane flyers, since the flying is work related. Not much travelling gets done if you go back and forth for business meetings/purposes.

I put in between 50 and 100 k for personal vacations a year having only 12 weeks off.
This year, having to been 6 continents has been the busiest travel year so far - 117,000 - all for fun

I guess you´re a much better customer than I am... I try to split my flights equally into revenue tickets and award tix. Usually revenue tix for my TATL trips and award tix to slightly more exotic destionations. The award flights are those I really enjoy as I´d never be able/willing to pay for full-fare F.

Always makes me think of the folks complaining about the 2-3 TATL trips per year and how tedious that is.

As I always tend to say: You fly a lot if you spend more time in the air than a FA in a month.

This year for me it's about 220k bis miles with about 170-175k of that paid. For me the big differentiation is how those miles are flown. I would have loved to have done my 170k in long hauls. A nice 13hr flight from YVR-HKG for 6300ish miles one way would be far more enjoyable than the 6 hours from YEG-YYZ-YHZ on the redeye for 2470 miles. I'd only have about 27 segments instead of about 140 to accumulate the same yearly mileage.

I now have all the respect in the world for people doing 70k domestic miles and even more respect for those qualifying for SE on segments while primarily flying CRJs and DH1s. At least I was usually on a 319/20/21 or E90.

I'm in the same boat as you... (Or is it the same plane?) I have about 140 segments too for my 200K miles...

Simon, one of the moderators here is somewhere near 300K for the last 2 years (at least).

Just to put that into perspective, that is 3 times across NAmerica, every week.

2MMer routinely does YYZ-LAX each week

It really does put the 35K'er who pushes aside the seniors and families with 3 year olds as soon as he hears "Priority Boarding to Elites, Super Elites and Star Golds" in his place.

2 weeks a month traveling domestically and 3-4 trips yearly internationally. Around 150-225k per year.

To put this in perspective, I looked at my totals for this year, 215,000 miles. That means that I would qualify for Elite every 2 months! (6 times in a year).

185k paid fares for me in about 8 months of travel.

I do quite a lot of wknd trips to party, not for the mileage run by any means.
