And at this point you were already airside, so anything that an SSSS check might find was already too late to find. I can't see what this would achieve.

it made an obnoxiously loud beep when they scanned my SSSS bp at the gate so if you don't have a stamp they would have one more opportunity to rescreen before pax gets on the actual plane

I don't see that as being much different than when you needed a CBP stamp on your paper BP at YYZ. Mobile was not allowed. If your upgrade cleared they'd staple it to the old one.

Sometimes they really just want a stamp.
