I'm not talking about the policies of a national government, I was just talking about airport security in TLV. I don't see how a conversation with a screener to determine if you are a threat is less ethical than million dollar machines that show your naked body to a security screener. And the system in TLV works. With little lineups. And intrusions. In a country surrounded by enemies. And with that few (nil?) hijackings in the last 30 years.

No, I think they will install body scanners 500 meters from the entrance of an airport perimiter to solve that one.... That way CATSA can hire more staff and get a bigger budget. Federal Government agencies do not exist to discover and exploit efficiencies. I don't think they are sincerely looking at ways in cutting lineups, especially that CATSA doesn't have the TSA system of sending all secondaries to a separate lineup in order to expedite those waiting before the beeper that won't beep.

Also mitigated inconvenience if security breach: empty the gate, take 15 minutes to sweep the gate, then re-screen 50-350 passengers....unlike if THE checkpoint in DEN is breached....

Trying OLCI for my flight to LHR tomorrow on AC856. I can check my wife in, but not me. :td:

Am I destined for SSSS?

Anything I should do? Really was hoping for a LMU, but none showing but never been offered one before. Tips, suggestions and ideas welcomed!

Thanks :D

DEN would be the last place I would like to be if they had to dump the sterile area. As if the security checkpoint isn't busy enough already.

Opted for the pat down. He tried to talk me out of it 3 times. "It's not an x-ray...It will be faster...It's just radio waves........

...., this is annoying. 131 segment this year, OLCI doesn't like me, and so I'm doomed for idiocy tomorrow.

Printed all four BP this morning and no SSSS. its September 11th and I am off to the US and I am not a Lilly White person so I may just be checked more often today and sure enough YOW, went through no alarm but randomly selected for a pat down. Might as well keep the belt on and enjoy the stand up massages today! :D

Goodluck!

I *am* lily white, mature age, anglo name, but have won the SSSS a few times travelling with the family. I decline the high tech scan and ask for a patdown because of all the diagnostic radiation I have had in the past couple of years. No point to have any more than I need, I figure. I especially enjoy the patdown on the way home from an endurance run event. They always ask are you sore anywhere and I say "what do YOU think?"

Second SSSS in the last 2 months (just carry-on), although I've done transborder 7 times, so the other 5 were ok. I noticed that both times were when I just cleared back into Canada the day before and tried OLCI a few hours later for my next transborder. Not sure if that's just a coincidence or not.

I meet the criteria and then some extra ...

Solo
Male
Short Notice
Multi City
Parents from Pakistan
UK Citizen
Live in Canada
Travel for short trips to the US
Carry-on only

Though i haven't been selected for SSSS much this year, last year it was on 90% of trips.

flyquiet Oct 15, 2012 12:54 pm

The consecutive crossings also matches my previous SSSS. In that case, it was in the order of a month from the previous trip - not too close but I thought at the time maybe that was it. I will see on Weds when I have a transborder flight at 8am after returning at 11:30 pm the night before. (There wasn't any convenient way to simply stay in the US between trips.)

My 14 years old son got SSSS from AC.

Interesting / frustrating SSSS for my husband on a trip to BKK last week. Home-printed boarding pas, no checked bags, and a Nexus card, departing for Asia from the US, so nobody had seen his passport or indicated SSSS until we got to the gate. Gate agent radioed for a security staffer to come to the gate for a secondary screening right there so we didn't miss the flight. Weird.
