Same here.

It's quite obvious the intention is to extend the credits earned in the latter part of the year! I don't understand how folks can get so lost in the semantics.

its nothing new, cause in the past......the Nov/Dec (sometime this period) we were given SWU/SSWU certs that would expire the year after......

But i am glad that they remember this being a sticky issue last year....... when they issued us certs in Nov/Dec that would expire in Feb

Damn, when I first read it I thought it meant along the lines of:

"Credits in your account AS OF nov 1st are now valid till 2013"

Semantics are confusing in this case.

seems like it's been confirmed by MG in the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/17388378-post50.html thread

Due to an illness in the family, she didn't get around to selecting her E benefits until this Monday (in spite of my nagging her that she would end up with the default benefits). Her e-credits posted on Tuesday, Nov 1, with an expiry of Feb 2013! ^ Talk about fortuitous timing!

I'm sure that's their intention.

Ambiguous phrasing and use of "as of" though means it can be interpreted either way. As of can mean "up to this date" or "starting on this date."

"Your statement balance as of November 1st" is your balance on November 1st, not your balance going forward.

"Your air miles earned as of November 1st" ... same thing.

"Your eUpgrades earned as of November 1st" ... same thing.

What they meant to say was:

As of November 1st (i.e. starting on / effective beginning November 1st), all eUpgrades earned until December 31st, ....

So right now I think it means the exact opposite of their intention. That all of your eUpgrades earned *up to* November 1st can be used up to 2013. Those between November 1st and December 31st are not referred to so would expire as stated in the original agreement.

Lawyer fail, I think. For what my opinion is worth.

Seems to read:

Miles earned from November 1st will be valid until 2013 (instead of 2012)

Would be interesting to read the French language version from AC. I normally receive my e-mails from them in French but did not get anything yet pertaining to the eUpgrade changes.

Does anyone have an inkling whether AC will enact this offering again this year?
