C Class instead of J -- Wrong Fare Code in PTO

Just a warning to those of you doing MHD bookings during this promo.

Sporadically, you get C Class instead of J when doing PTO bookings (they can be mixed in with a bunch of J class fare bases).

Normally I don't care but for double miles 75% instead of 10% I DO care!

It is relatively easy to get this fixed before ticketing but I don't think you would be too successful afterwards in getting your points for J when your ticket says C. This happened last year during a similar promo. Avoid the hassles and make sure your ticket is J all the way!

How did you actually determine that some segments were in C? I don't recall PTO actually showing me the fare booking codes.

I had it happen. I normally buy full-fare J (actually, all the time). I had a Delta trip through Atlanta (went down to Florida via AC, came back via Atlanta on Delta) and it sold me a discounted J-fare on Delta. I only learned this when I went to switch to an AC ATL-YYZ flight, and found out I couldn't use the coupon.

I think the only way to know is to look at the conditions of the ticket very carefully.

I had my TA check the fare class very closely. J class all the way. Perhaps this is a quirk of PTO.
