Additional Upgrades ?????

I have just clicked over the 70k miles for the year, and I'm starting to wonder if I will see anymore upgrade certificates..

The SE book says that you will receive 4 at 20k, another 2 at 30k and so every 10k 2 upgrades...which means I should have got a additional 14....I have received 0....Granted a lot of this 70k has been done in the last 6 weeks (40k) What is the normal waiting period?....Is it the same as everything else at AC...CP were every month.

Thanks ..

I'm closing in on 35,000 now, but I haven't seen any additional upgrade certs yet. Mind you, I still haven't received my Elite package, so I haven't got my original certs yet either. They have managed to get me a replacement card, but in spite of my regular calls, still no package. It's slightly worriesome because some of the people I talk to say that the package was sent out on a particular day, others just call the help desk and say that they have ordered another package. Maybe one day I'll see a boatload of Elite packages

The upgrade certs comes with the monthly statement, not as a seperate package. My last statement came with 8 for the flying that I did on the March statement. If your last statement showed that you did all those travels and no upgrade certs were included, then you should give the SE desk a call.

You're dealing with a couple of time related delays. As EMPRESS notes, the upgrade coupons come with your statement, and are not mailed separately as they were with Cdn+. I got my 4 NAs in my March statement, because the activity in that period put me above 20K Q-miles. I have now clicked over 30K and expect the April statement will be mailed with another 2 NAs. Unfortunately, my MX flights from my MHD last month have still not posted, or I would get another 2 NAs with the April statement. Will now have to wait two months for them to come with the May statement, sometime in late May or early June.

I think we have concluded from another topic that most Aeroplan elite statements get prepared on the 10th of each month and end up in the mail about a week later, arriving any time before the end of the month and the first week of the following month. Also about a week after the 10th, they seem to get posted on the web retrieval system.

So if your March statement, now showing on the web site, has Q-miles in excess of 20K, you should get 4 SWs with your posted statement which should have arrived by now. In the next few days, your April statement will be prepared, and if you have had most of those 70K Q-miles posted (assuming they are AC and not slow-posting partners), then the April statement should contain a bounty of certificates.

A related question. I noticed in the Elite handbook, it indicates that one continues to receive 2 NA upgrade certificates at every 10K, even after passing the 100K mark. This raises two questions.

1. I had assumed that upon reaching 100K mid-year (i.e. before December 2001) AC would move the member up the status ladder to SE for the balance of the benefits year, and of course through the following year. Is this not the case? I expect to reach SE by late summer, or at least by September with my current travel plans, and thanks to a couple more MHDs.

2. If one does move up to SE, would the threshold upgrades received not be SE SystemWides, and not Elite NAs? And can an SE use Elite NA upgrades? I would likely have quite a few of thse unused if I keep doing MHDs in J for my transcons.

As posted above, new upgrades always show up with the statement where the Q miles hits each 10K level. I have had them this year in Feb and March and expect more when the April month closes today.

Shareholder, I did both your question 1 and 2 last year when all my points went into AC instead of both CP and AC. I was told they run the caculations every Sunday and when I passed into 100K, SE showed up the next Monday on my boarding pass and in the phone system.
I have had no problem using Elite certs last year or this year as I had some left over. I was told the regular rules apply on the cert you use. So Elite ones could only be 72 hrs in advance, NA only etc and you may need two for some flights. I tried to use them on short hauls that would not be so busy. Busy flights or long hauls I always used the SE at time of Res upgrades.

It is all a matter of timing as others have indicated. I recently just went over 50K and have received all coupons for up to and including the 40K already flown. If you fly - they will come

I only had about 13K when my March statement posted, so I assume that my certs will arrive with the April statment

You don't get the first ones until you hit 20K.

AC*SE: I was just saying that the reason I hadn't received any was because I was only at 13K in February, but I'd racked up another 20K that will show up on my April satament
