I just applied for the Amex Gold Card where you get 15K bonus, and first year free (*cough Cough* cancel in 6 months time ;0)

Good find for AP - I've never seen a bonus for this card, other than the standard 15,000 offer, which is pitaful compared to the US-based FF cards. I just got the UA select Visa,with a fee waiver for the $95 fee for the first year, 50,000 bonus miles. Card gets 3 x miles on united purchases, up to 5,000 EQM's for purchases on UA.com, and 2 x miles on purcahses for * A carrier websites and select categories.

I've been churning cards for years. I usually stay signed up for 11 months, 28 days.

Marginally for most people. Frequent short accounts are a negative, but if you're paying all your obligations on time and have a responsible debt load that is generally enough for a lender to want your business. Heck, its a lot more then they can get from most people these days.
It's churning low interest cards (and moving the balance each time) that is a big concern for lenders.

I've churned cards for awhile too. I just canx this very card I got for the second time in December of 2009. I'll re-up in May or so.
