SSWU usage

Both Mrs Flying Chef and I are *Gold, she on AC and me on CO. We are flying to BGI on points in Y, since no J reward tickets wer available. As of now, lots of revenue space / seats in J. What are the chances of using a SSWU to 'upgrade' on a points ticket?

That's being a bit generous - more like none to none.

You might get the chance to pay for an upgrade when you check in. Best odds are via online checkin exactly 24 hours before the flight.

Try Aeroplan

Try calling Aeroplan, some J award seats may have been released and if so you can pay point difference and get J award.

As *Golds they might get an opup. But generally agree with your more precise and discouraging wording.
