Have you recommendations for a travel agent in Morooco?
I'm trying to organize a trip for next year, March probably. I want information about grand taxis or renting a driver and car to see some of the Rif Mountain and Great Oasis Valley areas.

I very highly recommend this agency, "The Best of Morocco," which is located in England but deals only with travel to Morocco.

They specialize in travel that is independent, in the sense that you do not travel with a group. However, they book and plan absolutely everything for you, have cars delivered to you and picked up from you, etc. It was great.
My friends and I started out in Fes, then had a Land Cruiser delivered to us, which we drove out through the desert to Erfoud and the dunes at Merzouga, down to Zagora, and back up the Draa Valley to Ouarzazate and Marrakech. Then we just dropped the keys to the car with the concierge of our hotel, and that was it. We did not hire a driver, but I'm sure that can be arranged.
Please e-mail me if you would like more info.

We were there a total of 9 nights (3 nights Fes, 2 nights near Erfoud, 1 night Ouarzazate, 3 nights Marrakech).
Our total price for three people was GBP3785. That included r/t airfare from London, airport transfers, our car rental, all breakfasts and most dinners (6 of the hotel nights were on half-board basis). Also a single supplement for the third person (me).
It could certainly be done for less -- we rented a very expensive vehicle because we wanted lots of room and 4WD for snow and sand. We also stayed at La Mamounia in Marrakech, which is quite expensive (but worth every penny).
Our trip was in November 1999; prices and exchange rates have no doubt changed.

Thanks Ready2Go, that's a very good resource.

No doubt, but that seems like a really good price for three people. Sounds like a good trip.<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by Ready2Go:

This sounds like a great itinerary. The Desert Inn is where we stayed outside Erfoud; it's an especially cool place (quite literally so at night -- there's no heat, but there's a big fireplace in the dining room, and they give you hot water bottles to take to bed).<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by SylviaCaras:

Do consider renting a 4WD vehicle -- you may encounter snow when you drive through the mountains (in November we drove through quite a storm between Ifrane and Midelt, on the way from Fes to Erfoud). 4WD will also allow you to drive all the way around the great sand dunes at Merzouga.
Digging up an older thread here. Anyone have suggestions on a Morocco tour operator? I've seen Globus, Cosmos, Trafalgar etc, but they all seem to be larger groups. I will not allow myself to be part of one of those large motorcoach tours
But, I would like to see Morocco with a guide and have a pre-arranged tour. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Idon't know where are you from, but I am from Poland. For us it was the first trip without travel agency, and i am glad, that i decided to do this in this way. We have had only our tickets and pascal guide- it is really good.
We didn't plan everything carefully, but we use our ocasionns. We was on 3 days trip to sahara with hotels and food included for 100 euro, we was on one day trip on a boat with fishing for 25 euro.
Morocco it is really cheap country-even for Polish, so try to buy everything there and remember to give them 1/10 first price.

My wife and I did a 9-day tour several years ago, arranged by a fellow in Marrakech. We booked it through a firm, I think it was called Nubian-Nile, but it seemed like they handed it off to Unitours Maroc. We dealt with a fellow called Mustapha Dardari ( [email protected] ) who did a great job, we'de go directly to him to do it again. We had 9 days, saw Marrakech, Fes, Rabat, Casablanca, Erfoud, Ouarzazate, and more. One night we slept in a Berber tent on the edge of the Sahara. We were woken before dawn to ride a camel to the top of the dunes to watch the sun come up over the Sahara. Part of the tour was a dinner in a Moroccan home with a Moroccan family. That turned out to be Mustapha, a great host along with his wife.Originally Posted by NHFL9

We expected a small group in a van, but apparently in the post 911 world bookings were down so we wound up with just the two of us and a driver in a Mercedes to take us all over the country. That's normally an extra cost option, but in retrospect we would have paid it happily.
It was the trip of a lifetime, and the Moroccans were wonderful. Don't miss the opportunity.

is who we used to book a 10 day trip to Morocco in late Jan.
Fes/Erfoud/Merzouga/Dades Valley/Ourzazate/Marrakesh/Imilil(Mt. Toukbal).
Company is Morocco-based, but luckily one the principals is American, so communication was clear and efficient.
Price including 4 star accomodations, sturdy minivan and breakfast/dinners was about $1000 USD per person., very competitive. We are travelling without a group!
