A Weekend in Addis

Hi

I am going to be spending a weekend in Addis Ababa at the end of August. Any suggestions of what to see, where to eat etc gratefuly received.

bump. I will be there on business and will have an extra day to stay there. Any info would be much appreciated.

I've never been, but would definitely be interested in seeing the "Lucy" exhibit at the National Museum there. (Lucy lived around the rift valley over 3 million years ago)
Also, I think Ethiopia is one of the earliest regions to accept Christianity. Might be some churches of interest.

Is this still upcoming? For a day, I would actually try to go out of town, depending on your budget and timeframe.

For eating, the most important thing is to get out of Sheraton and Hilton first, there are lots of options for food, depending on what kind you like (and how spicy). Lots of nice options for Ethiopian national food, but also some Italian, Korean, Indian, Georgian, etc.

And don't forget Chinese. There's been a steady increase in Chinese restaurants there. But when in Rome... Do try the injera and different types of wots. My personal fav is Gorat gorat. which is raw chucks of tenderloin of beef marinated in a spicy (not very hot) sauce. Fantastic!!!
