johan rebel and NLflyer26:
As it stands now my first week will be in Botswana, 2 nights Pride of Zambezi houseboat then 2 nights Elephant Plains at Chobe, and the second week in South Africa. 3 nights at Gomo Gomo then 4 nights Capetown. April may not be prime time for Bots but may be good for Kruger.

If I do end up going in April 2015 I now have one more day/night to fill. Should I do 2 Kruger safaris of 2 nights each instead of 1 of 3 nights? Where should I add the extra night?
I also found out our health insurance will pay for a yellow fever vaccination. So we are not limited to the Zimbawe side of Victoria Falls. If there are more options in Zambia then we can stay there.

Craig and anyone else following along:
This will give us a 2 night Chobe/Namibia houseboat safari, 2 night Chobe park safari, and a 3 night Kruger safari. It should give us 3 very different safari experiences with a variety of wildlife viewing opportunities.
So what do all of you Africa experts and veterans think of this proposal?

Do you have a link?
I am aware of a few Elephant XXXX Lodges/Camps in the Botswana/Chobe region, but not Elephant Plains (apart from the one in the Sabi Sand Reserve).

I have yet to book my accommodation in the Chobe/Kasane and so am interested if there is an option that I have missed.

Take a look at the Pride of Zambezi for an alternative place to stay in Chobe area. This looked so intriguing to me.

I'm searching on safaritalk for a review of this houseboat but have not found one yet.

You need to factor in travel to the airport, that your lift may not be on time and checking in early enough at the airport.

I admit that this is a point I tend to belabor, but a desert the Kalahari is not. If a desert is what you want, then in southern Africa you must head for the Namib. The Kalahari is very diverse, and pretty dry in places, but it also includes the southern bit of the Congo rain forests.
