The Smoke That Thunders and Chobe too!

New to the forums (this is the third post I think?). I am planning a trip to Afria at the moment, and while most of the travel will be within South Africa, I was considering a short side-trip to Livinstone Zambia and then a few days across into the Chobe reserve in Botswana.

Does anybody have a recommended tour and/or hotels for either Livingstone or the north end of the Chobe? Or perhapsa other suggestions for relatively inexpensive short trips out of SA? I would be traveling in December, so not ideal from a timing standpoint, but it's the time I have to travel.

Welcome to Flyertalk. ^

Have you had a look at this thread on VFA?

If you're looking at short trips, be careful of visa fees. If there are a few of you, it can make a quick visit rather pricey.

If you want to go on safari, it may be worthwhile looking further north at that time of year. December in Tanzania, for example, is just between the short rains and short dry season and you may be able to catch the migration around Ngorongoro (I think).

Thank you, reading the thread now. I was aware of the visa fees, which yes, are pricy, but I hope worth it. I will check out Tanzania, and have in the past, but it seems to me on a scale worthy of exploration at great length where the falls and a bit of the Chobe seemed more apt to short treatment without feeling as if you've cheated yourself and the place. As well, most travel inside Tanzania has appeared quite pricy which is a consideration I am dealing with.

As well, thank you for the warm welcome.
