New lounge in Frankfurt

The receptionist is the Sky Lounge told me that EI are moving to a new lounge in Q1,2018. Here’s the details of the new spot. It’s located down near the E gates.

I would have thought the EI might have moved to the JAL Sakura Lounge given that it’s used by One World carriers in T2. Can’t say I will miss the Sky Lounge as the food offerings were pretty bad.

Did EI choose it because it will be in the non-schengen area so after passport/security check maybe? Haven't flown out of Frankfurt in a few years and I forget the layout so maybe the other lounges are there also and that's not the reason.

A brand new lounge, due to open on Jan 1?

I suspect that there may be a few days where EI is left without a lounge at FRA, then

I really don't think that the JAL Sakura lounge is an option at all for Aer Lingus. They are not in oneworld so don't have access that way; to the best of my knowledge, JAL doesn't "sell" third party access (no Priority Pass, etc) so they are probably not in the business of concluding contracts with individual airlines.

Even if I'm wrong about that last part, I'm sure that their offer wouldn't be as competitive as the lounge providers who exist for that type of business.

The Prime Class lounges are not too bad. With it being a new build then it looks promising.

Has anyone used the new lounge yet? Where in T2 is it?

If not, I'm flying out of FRA tomorrow and will update

Yes, EI are still using the Sky Lounge. I am beginning to think the lounge attendant was mistaken when I posted what she told me last December. I asked the staff there recently and they were not aware of any change.

Just arrived in the lounge myself for tonight’s flight. I raised it with the lounge attendant who stated EI would be moving. Not too sure of a date.

Just to say that the new Prime lounge is up and running and quite an improvement on the Sky Lounge based on first impressions. Hot food is a bonus. You can help yourself to a beer but you have to ask and be served wine and spirits.
Chicken and spuds...not bad.

TV room has 4 seats.

According to this post, the Primeclass lounge is just a rebranding of the old IB lounge. I haven't been able to check it out myself, but from the lounge's location it makes sense.

Interesting design but notice there seems to be a total lack of plug sockets unless they are well hidden!
