Aer Lingus ... Promo Codes ..???

Hi All;

I notice that Aer Lingus have a facility on their home page for entering a "Promo Code" when making a booking. I am assuming this will make available a lower fare.

Has anyone any experience of using promo codes with EI and if so, where you happy.

Can / should promo codes be shared among FT members .. ?

Is the promo code box not for the gift vouchers you can buy?
Thats what I've always thought.

No, gift vouchers are keyed in the payment stage. Using a gift voucher can also make some small savings on the payment processing charge if you have multiple people travelling, as you pay just one /€5 processing fee to buy the voucher rather than /€5 per pax per one-way flight, and can use the balance of the voucher on another booking later.

Never knew that.

So, just to be clear - if I bought a gift voucher for a few hundred €s and paid the €5 fee on that, then I could book, say, a family of 6 on return flights and not pay the usual €60 in processing fees?

Now that is of real use! Thanks for sharing. ^^

That's how it has worked for me on the one time that I have used it. I had a Visa Electron card until recently so it wasn't an issue.

Bear in mind that the voucher will only be accepted if it's denominated in the currency that your flight is priced in, and while you can leave change on the voucher and use it another time, if the voucher doesn't cover the full cost of the flight you will be charged the full payment handling fee. Vouchers are available for a maximum of 500/500 and the passenger whose name the voucher is issued in must travel.
