OP reporting back: unfortunately my flight only got me 500 miles rather than the 1,000 I'd been hoping for (A3 K mapped to LH S).

Bear in mind that these mappings have been shown to be point specific, so the above example, starting in MUC might not map in the same way. Also, we saw examples in the bmi forum of fares from different sales markets mapping identical buckets differently, depending on the specific fare rules.

Two excellent points there from our esteemed mod. 
That's why I included the specific routing and would ask others to do the same.
