Very good news indeed. I am also looking forward to Fairmont expanding their european presence. I guess you have to start somewhere.

What an amazing step forward for Fairmont. I hope to see an international expansion sometime or another - I can just see it now "the Fairmont Paris", the "Fairmont Tokyo".

The Fairmont chain, when it was called Canadian Pacific Hotels and Resorts, operated three modern hotels in Germany and I believe one in Israel. I twice stayed at one of the CP hotels in Germany.

Just completed a FPC survey asking which areas of the world I would like to see Fairmont expand to. This may be coming sooner than later I hope.

Some of the new benefits contemplated in the survey were positively odd. I said I didn't like any of them but wanted them to keep things just the way they were. Only thing I added was to get miles on ALL rates as Fairmont is very inconsistent in crediting and I find myself chasing them more often than I wish on rates that clearly are entitled to miles.

New Fairmont hotel rumors

I've heard that Fairmont is close to a deal in Portugal, and Lake Taho. Any other rumors out there?

Two sources. A travel agent I know who does a ton of business with Fairmont and the FPC reservation line.

Is everything moving according to schedule with regards to Fairmont assuming management of The Savoy in January?

I would have expected to see something on the web site by now, but so far - nothing.

Fairmont Management of Savoy

Does anyone know when this admistrative take-over will be realised?

I have 3 free night vouchers and a suite upgrade just waiting to be used for a London weekend in Feb.

I thought this was supposed to be complete by 1st Jan 2005 but no updates to the fairmont website.

Any help would be useful.

Wish I could help some, but the only thing I've seen on the topic was this PR back last fall, which I posted on FT AC forum:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=354639

And all it gave was January 2005. Fairmont's online PR search also turned up nothing more recent. Good luck.
