I just posted in another thread that this also happened to me at Sofitel Macau - got 'upgraded' to same room 3 floors higher with NO club floor benefits (even though I was on the club floor).

After complaining, they've welcomed me back with a free night. Has anyone else has such experiences?

I just upgraded to gold. It states that I have to stay at an Accord hotel to get my gold card.
I live in the US and noticed that Motel 6 was part of their chain.
If i stay one night at a motel 6 does this then get me my gold card?

Motel 6 does not participate in A-Club, so the answer is no. You would have to stay at one of the few Novotel or Sofitel hotels in North America.

Also, I will be traveling to Marrakech, Morocco in November and i was wondering if there were any special deals going on for a 10 day stay at a Sofitel hotel.

I remember that Sofitel has Pay 2 For 3, where you only pay two nights for the three nights of your stay. Unfortunately, it's based on their premium rate and not valid for stay more than 3 nights. Just go to accorhotels.com, search, and book the rate under Pay 2 For 3 program. Here is the full explanation of the program :

Cancellation policy :
Full deposit is not refundable even if the booking is cancelled or modified.
Check in Policy :
Check-in time 15:00
Check out Policy :
Check-out time 12:00
Children policy :
Accommodation is free for 1 child under 4 years sharing parents' room, extra charge for breakfast.
Booking Period :
The client may benefit from this rate up to 5 days prior to the date of arrival.~
Minimum length of stay requested :
In the event of early departure, the hotel will charge the total price of the booked stay.
Package Inclusions :
Accommodation, stay 3 nights for the price of 2. Your bill will state 3 nights. The free night is the result of a 33,34% discount off the Premium rate (at time of booking).This offer cannot be combined with any ongoing offers, promotions or discounts."
Guarantee Policy :
Full amount of stay is payable in advance by credit card at booking time.
