Double booking (same date & 2 different hotels)

Hi everyone,

Here is my question.

I booked a double room for the night of 16 to 17 May in a French Ibis style.

My plans have changed, but not my friend's so we can keep the booking.

I will be on my own in Copenhagen during the same night and plan to stay at another Ibis Style.

If I keep both bookings under my name, I am wondering if there will be any issues either at check in or out, and then for points & stays crediting.

Have any of you been in this situation : 2 rooms in 2 different hotels for the same night?

Thank you.

There will be for sure an issue for points posting and possibly at check-in if names are not matching. The majority of hotels I am staying in now request an ID at check-in. You should change the name for the France stay, in my opinion.

Even if you and your friend are both able to check-in ok, afterwards, the computer will not post points for both stays and will (at random I think) reject one of them.

Why not book the second hotel through another chain to avoid any issues?

Read from another post on this page that they will only post the stay with the earlier check out date

As the computer system detects a date clash, all other bookings won't post

We are regulars at the French hotel, so they know us. They never ask for ID, even when only my friend shows up (I book a double room though).

My concern is more if the computer system will make any trouble; most likely indeed with point posting as you and others are pointing out.

I am travelling with a client and the second hotel is kind of decided already.

It looks like we must book my friend under his name in the French hotel as Goldorak is saying, and pay the normal rate (I have an Accor traveller card).

Too bad... I can book 2 rooms in the same hotel but not in different ones... Makes sense though....
