Points expiring

Sorry for the silly question…
I used to be a regular at a few hotels on here but out of it for the last 2 years for obvious reasons.
Still Platinium but all points going to expire soon…what’s the best way to extend them without phiscaly staying at an hotel?
Thanks!

The above is a good starting point.

To fully answer, depends on your plans ( later ) and the number of points you have, and where you are based.

The two "easiest" ways is to eat and get the points credited ( do you have family near an Accor Hotel that does this - check as some do not ) they could use your card. I do not see this as "cheating" as no one will get any status benefits at a restaurant, and they do not have to show ID.

The best way is to do a survey, but depending on where you are, you will need a VPN or the survey will not work. However points posting is slow.

Contact Accor and plead your case.

Transfer points to another program, such as Avios ( better than letting them expire - conversion rate is poor )

Good luck.

Thanks!
Does transferring points extends life of non-transferred ones (like with Hyatt or other programs)?

Help is needed. Points expiring in Dec and there isn’t any Accor property nearby

Just tried to contact Accor at Twitter and they send me this:

Dear Guest,

Thank you for contacting ALL-Accor Live Limitless.

To keep your Reward points, all you need is to have one Reward points transaction credited to your ALL account before the scheduled Reward points expiration date.
In fact, each eligible transaction that leads to a credit of Reward points on your account automatically extends the validity of your Reward points balance by 365 days.
It must be noted that the validity of your Reward points is only extended after the transaction has been credited to your ALL - Accor Live Limitless account.

The eligible transactions that can trigger an extension of the validity of Reward points are:
- An eligible stay, if not fully paid for in Reward points,
- An event organised as part of ALL Meeting Planner offer,
- A drink or meal taken outside a stay in one of our hotels’ bar or restaurant participating in the Dining Offer,
- A purchase from our e-store Limitless Experiences by ALL – Accor Live Limitless (for puchases in Flexpay only) or from Collections online portal,
- A conversion of your Points or Miles from your account at one of our partners, for those offering this possibility, to your ALL - Accor Live Limitless account,
- Purchase a product or service offered by one of our leisure, mobility, survey or shopping partners.

The credit period applicable to each partner varies depending on the type of transaction you make.

To ensure that you retain your Reward Points, we invite you to check these timeframes when selecting a transaction and verify that this timeframe will indeed trigger a credit of points to your account prior to the scheduled expiry date of your Reward Points.

If the Dining Offer is not available in your country of residence or near your home, I invite you to visit the bar or restaurant of one of our hotels participating in ALL loyalty programme to have a meal or drinks there outside a stay.

If the hotel participates in the Dining Offer, they will help you with the steps you need to take to earn Reward points as part of this offer.

If not, send us your bill (with a minimum value of €10) from this hotel’s bar or restaurant at least 12 days before your points expire so that we can credit you with the Reward points corresponding to your expenditure and thus extend the validity of your Reward points balance.

We remain at your entire disposal should you have any further information.

Yours Sincerely,
Accor Care Team

Last year I extended my points by making a purchase through their website (shopping portal) for an item I needed from a home improvement store.

I earned a very small amount of points, maybe less than 10 but my points were extended.

ebuck May 1, 2023 10:14 am

Anyone know how quickly shopping portal points post? My points are expiring next week. Made an eligible shopping purchase a week ago, and hoping that it posts before my points expire.

flyertalker00143 May 1, 2023 11:30 am

Usually between weeks and months depending so your posts are likely to expire.

Your best chance could be to book a ride, it could post within days but it varies a lot from a country to another.

i’ve done this several times in varions countries to earn some missing points to reach a multiple to be burned.
it is the best cheap choice aside from converting from another partner (ie converting Flying Blue miles into All reward points - which takes a few minutes btw)

Or not at all in my case...

Made a purchase using https://collections.accor.com for a popular high street shop for a Click & Collect and ensured cookies enabled etc.and followed all the links, but 5 months later no Reward Points and ALL CS know nothing about it.

It’s not only about cookies.
if a window is already open with the site or if you use something to block ads, it might not go through.

You can link your ALL.com account with Flying Blue, every flights will give you points and expiry date + 2 years.

Reporting back to share my experience with anyone looking to extend points expiration without a hotel stay. There isn't an Accor hotel within 300 miles of where I live. I first tried the shopping portal. It's been over two weeks since the order and no points have posted. Last week I tried using Club Opinions. Registered for the 600 point bonus and did a couple of surveys. Points posted within two days! Expiration extended another year!

Does this really work though? I thought it had to be something like an actual stay in order for the points to be extended. The closest Accor property to me just now is ibis Syles Sierre. Apparently their restaurant, A TABLE, is the talk of the town. I could pop along and have lunch there. Not sure if they participate in the Accor Dining Offer though. I sent them an email about it, but I expect they will have no idea what I am going on about.

flyertalker00143 May 14, 2023 11:37 pm

Yes you get a double dip with Miles+Points both ways

Hotel: you get Accor points for the stay and FB miles

flight: you get your miles for your flight and ALL points

Concerto May 15, 2023 3:04 am

The thing is, does it really extend the life of your Accor points? My last stay was on 19th June 2022 and there is no mention of upcoming points expiry on my account. But I don't trust their IT.

flyertalker00143 May 15, 2023 3:07 am

Thanks to the Miles + Points yes

if you don’t see expiration dates on the website, try the app, it is normally displayed on the balance once you click on it you get to a page where it says if you have an amount of money to be used and the expiration date

So just to follow-up with the shopping portal: Points finally posted last week, after 7 weeks! The posted date for the points was the day it posted, not when the shopping transaction took place. So if you want to use the shopping portal to extend your points expiration, plan ahead!

Want to add my experience trying to keep my points from expiring. Realized that my points were expiring in less than a week. Signed up for Club Opinions using my Accor member number and completed a survey. Have Silver status, so I qualified for a 600 point bonus upon completing my first survey. Completed a 50 point survey and my Club Opinions account showed that they were crediting me 50 Points for the survey and 600 Bonus Points.

The points credited to my Accor ALL account within 1 business day and my points expiration has now been extended by a year.

The FAQ for Club Opinions says:

How are Reward Points put into my ALL account?
Your Reward Points are transferred and deposited into your ALL – Accor Live Limitless account upon completing a survey. Please note that it can take up to 3-5 days before your Reward Points appear in your ALL account. The amount of Reward Points will be outlined on the page prior to starting a survey.

How long does it take to transfer my Reward Points?
It can take up to 3-5 days before your Reward Points appear in your account.
So 1 business day is a great result, but probably not a figure to be relied upon.

If you do surveys via e-Rewards (sometimes Accor has a sign up link for specific countries) my experience is that once you redeem a few times, Accor redemptions typically post you your Accor account within 24-36 hours. I think e-Rewards dos a daily batch processing for that unlike IHG redemptions from there, which typically post to my IHG account in 2-3 minutes.

Note that e-Rewards and Club Opinions share a parent company-Dynata.

Holiday.with.Ken Oct 14, 2023 2:30 pm

My recent experience with e-rewards is they now required government - issued ID when redeeming/transferring points. It takes you to "veriff" to get yourself verified. Be cautious!

Just book a table for a fine dining for 2 or 4 persons at some restaurant of Accor hotels network.

That Club opinion worked great. Made 2 surveys and got the points within 2 days. Now my points were extended.

gregorygrady Dec 11, 2023 10:25 pm

So I had like 8k pts expiring a few days from now. I tried to do the surveys (both Club Opinions and e-Rewards) and spent literally an hour trying to get targeted for a survey, taking these pre-surveys to each survey asking all these questions about me to see if I fit the profile of who they want their survey takers to be. Well I didn't qualify for ANY surveys after about an hour of taking these "pre-surveys", so I gave up. I then saw somewhere in the Accor T&Cs or FAQs that said starting end of 2023, point donations to one of Accor's charities would work to extend points. With no other option other than to continue wasting my time on pre-surveys that I would keep failing (despite starting to change my answers to match match what I thought they might want), I gave up and donated the minimum 500 pts to one of their charities, and sure enough within a day or two my points were extended by a year. The survey thing was super frustrating cuz I used that option to extend points a year or two ago and it was super easy, I qualified for the first survey I attempted, got the bonus (600?) pts for first survey, and my points were extended. Anyways, I wouldn't suggest donating $10 (500 pts) if you don't have to, but as a frantic last ditch option, at least it seems to work...........and saved me 7500 pts in the process.

My Accor+ lapsed, back to gold with 59 nights.

If I have a 1-night stay on 31.12 and check-out 01.01, I will be put up to platinum a few days into January once the night is credited?

Thanks in advance

I think your check-out needs to be in 2023, otherwise the stay/nights/points will count in 2024.

Nope, they'll be credited in 2024 - check out day is what counts.

Does cancelling a flexi booking (booked with Accor points) extend the validity of the points when returned back to the account?

No. It doesn't.
