Novotel Bangkok IMPACT

Short review, as only stayed less than 14h. Would stay again.

Chose hotel as was closest to the "old" airport for our onward connection to REP, and did not wish to spend hours in the traffic that could have been spent in the airport lounge.  ( If you have hold luggage, flights will not open more than 2h before and thus cuts down your lounge time ).

Taxi from the "new" airport was 500 THB, including tolls and took about an hour.  Taxi driver was unsure of where the hotel was, but the confirmation letter assisted. Probably is not the first choice for international tourists.

Arrived, and there must have been ten bell boys to help with two pieces of luggage, before the taxi stopped. Very efficient. Taken immediately to the club lounge on the top floor and was given a very nice mock tail ( not welcome drink ), towels and speedily check in.

Room had been upgraded to the club floor, and had a welcome letter and welcome drink vouchers as well as fruit and some sweet fruit marzipans. Also bottled water.

Hotel seemed empty, and we returned to the lounge for some nibbles. The view is nothing special. Excellent hosts, who explained breakfast was either in the main restaurant or in the lounge. The lounge was better.

Check out was fast and correct. Taxi to the "old" airport 300 THB and took about 1h, but was rush hour. Points posted within 24h.

Lounge chairs seemed funky, but were actually rather comfy. There is an attached swimming pool and gym  on the ground floor via the convention centre.

There was not a convention on and the room rate was extremely competitive. There is an Ibis close by for about 10% less, as well as a selection of international type restaurants.

It may be a different experience if there was a conference, as the hotel has over 300 rooms.

After a long 15h flight, the hotel provided a very good night sleep.
