Mercure Albury

Location

The hotel is located just 5 mins to downtown Albury.  Parking is complimentary and ample F&B outlets around to select from.  There is a shopping mall about 10 mins walk down from the hotel.

Check In

Arrived late in the afternoon, and there was no one at the Front desk, so I was checked in within mins and off to my room after arriving.  As a Classic member, did not expect anything which was what I got.

Room

Assigned a corner room (opposite to the housekeeping office and the lifts).  Room was of decent size.  The room was not the most modern room and did show it, but everything worked ok.  The view of the room was towards the back part of the parking lot, but since there was no taller buildings, it was not an issue.

They had both tea/coffee making facilities and the afamous bread toaster available together with a minibar (stocked).  For the milk, you will be asked at check in for your option of milk, full or skimmed.  I believe that you can get more than one if you need more.  Since my rate did not include breakfast, I was asked if I wanted it, which I declined (since the city was so close by, I decided to have it in the city center).

Internet was fast and stable - though take a good note of the password as I believe a lot of people gives it a quick glance and think that they had it right.  It comes down to how Mercure is spelt.

Bathroom was of decent size with a walk in shower.  Water temperature and pressure was good.  They had the usual Mercure toiletries - shampoo, bath gel, conditioner and body lotion - all in the individual tubes.

Other than that, everything was in order and clean.  Bed was just right for my preference and had a good night sleep.  Climate control was good and worked fine.  TV selection was good with a variety of Australian selection and some International selection.

The only small complain is that in the morning, because the room was opposite the housekeeping office, it does get a bit noisy as the come in to start their day.  Not a major problem but could be if you want to sleep longer and is sensitive for noise.  Other than that, no other noise disturbance was noticed.

Overall

Since I did not use any other facilities and this was just a 1 night stay, not much can be commented.  Staff in general were all friendly and did noticed that they were very helpful based on the observation the few times I passed through the front desk.  All in all, this seems to be one of the better hotels in the city which is decent and reasonably priced.  I believe this property used to the be Comfort Inn (or Quality Inn) hotel as they still had some items with the branding.
