Shenzhen 3 star Mercure opened

A new hotel Just popped up on the App recently. Very cheap for Shenzhen but the 3 stars Would worry me about quality of the rooms. If clean and offer a basic western breakfast that would be great value).

This property brings back many old memories. I stayed here as a teen when I worked for the family business when it was a The Omni Batavia. It has a gorgeous stained glass window spanning several floors. During the riots that stained glass was quite damaged.
The hotel used to house the largest illegal casino in Jakarta too.
There was a nightclub next door that was one of the hottest and darkest places during its time.

Memories..

The old Kota area is slowly being redeveloped. Still so much history around there.

Anyone stayed at this property.

Seems to me 5 stars hotel property rebranded as 3 stars. Location may not the best.

Any room comes with balcony and any lounge?

This is one of the 2 new Mercure's going up. I also have a ppt that i was sent by wechat from the manager. This hotel standard room rate will be from around 400rmb to 900 rmb per night and yes they have an executive lounge. It will be a really good option for the next few years for sure. About a 2-3 min walk to the metro station. Also was told that they would be opening from the 20th of December (not sure if the executive lounge will be ready by then. Some levels will still be being furnished at that time. The other Mercure will be in Pinghu which is a bit far out the city centre (Planned opening now early 2020.

Darmstadt, Germany - greet Hotel Darmstadt opened a few weeks ago in November (327 rooms)

greet is similar to ibis, the main twist seems to be a focus on sustainability

I stayed at this property on September but didn't get the room with balcony.
I think it's great and the room is very modern with king bed.
Didn't have any lounge when I stayed last Sep.

Not quite similar, although it is ranked as such. The brand is focused on converting older hotels where owners are not as keen to invest in upscale furnishings, so they market "old furniture" and "haphazard decor" as "sustainability". This is a good way for Accor to get presence in second- and third-tier locations without continuing to compromise the Mercure brand. In Germany, the first slew of Greets are former Deutsche Telekom conference centres.

Accor has opened a new Grand Mercure branded property in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT), a smart city in Gujarat that connects the business capital, Ahmedabad and political capital, Gandhinagar.

I'm looking forward to checking it out in a few weeks. If anyone get to the hotel, it would be great to have a review in it's own thread :-)
I just called the hotel to ask which category a Gold member needs to book to get access to the executive lounge - “minimum grand suite” I was told. Well that happens to be the second highest available room category for the date I’m looking at.

Stayed there last week. The club floor was great. Beautiful views too. Only 15minute drive to the airport.

I have an “early” flight today and would’ve appreciated staying closer to CGK. I just don’t understand why the hotel wouldn’t have an executive room (=cheaper than a suite) so us lowly non plat/diamond could have a chance to enjoy the lounge. I’m now at the DoubleTree which gives me free lounge access and a vast breakfast downstairs

Not sure, maybe because they are in soft opening mode until February. Or, they just might want to make it exclusive. It was very nice.

I finally stayed at Swissotel PIK Avenue. It's a nice hotel in a bit of a quiet area. I was told the executive rooms were made available for sale starting mid January.
While the lounge was nice I found the drinks and food offerings rather weak.

Does anyone know what happened to this project ? Was supposed to open end 2019. There are always delays, so we can guess it's been hit by the pandemic. But still not available as part of Accor offering in Jordan.
