I've never stayed there, but have gone to quite a few events at the hotel. It should fit nicely in the portfolio.

Exciting. I wonder what the timeline is.

5th FM in the bay area. Interesting.

Sounds like a great addition. Coverage still wanes in many of the high demand cities.

I've given up on Fairmont for coverage. Out of the thousands of hotels in Florida, Fairmont can't even get one hotel in Florida? Orlando?

Used to be a nice place, and have a nice spa. Haven't been there in years though. East bay is pretty out of the way for most of the bay. Honestly, this is NOT the property that I would have picked up if trying to build out a portfolio. I would have probably tried to find something in around LA area to add.

Fairmont will always have a place in my heart. Fairmont has some extremely nice properties and we feel special whenever staying at a Fairmont property.

Hopefully, Fairmont can keep extending its collection, and invest in some coverage.

The old Wilshire Grand would have been good, but this tower looks like it's just going to be a(nother) blight on LA.

Mark Hopkins bought by owner of the Fairmont Hotel

http://www.sfgate.com/business/botto...el-5246201.php

"Woodridge Capital Partners and Oaktree Capital Management on Tuesday acquired the 383-room Mark Hopkins Hotel for $120 million from InterContinental Hotels Group. They are investing a further $20 million on upgrades, mostly of the guest rooms and public spaces.

The same team bought the Fairmont Hotel in 2012, bringing the number of rooms it owns, literally on opposite sides of the street, to close to 1,000."

Doubt it becomes a fairmont. The subway rule must apply here. Bay area already has sf, sj, Sonoma, Berkeley, and girardeli.
