Points - Again!!

Sorry to bother you guys but I don;t think I was awarded enough points on my recent stay to Novotel Kuala Lumpur. I'm Gold and spent the equivelant of 750 Euros and was with 2 others, i know I can only ask for 1 other room in addition to mine so I asked for my colleagues room to be included in mine. Her bill was the equivelant of 700 Euros so altogether a spend of 1450 Euros and being gold don;t I get 3.5 per Euro which makes 5075 but I only received 4635 which is short 440 short.

I suppose I'm asking are my calculations correct?

Many thanks

Jo

You can't earn points on the local taxes and fees which are included in the room price, thus the difference.

Hi Jo, since the national taxes in Malaysia is about 16%. Therefore you should exclude the 16% portion of your total room bills. Thus, your eligible expenses would be 1,450 EUR / 1.16 = 1,250 EUR.

Therefore your points would be:
Base points: 1,250 EUR X 2 pts/EUR = 2,500 pts
Bonus Accelerator: 1,250 EUR X50% X 2pts/EUR = 1,250 pts.

The total points that you should earn should be around 3,750 pts. If there's any small variances, probably it should be differences in exchange rates.
