or.... if you're willing to do the plane thing...Vancouver. Good this time of the year, moderate temperature, plenty of good food, easy drive to a more remote area should you wish.
and I think you've got a nonstop from there. Big drawback is cruise season, so hotel$ may be an i$$ue.
