Maybe that pilot found out he was one of 950 being furloughed (a large portion of those 950 to be furloughed again for the 2nd time since 9/11)
The story seemed to indicate he was caught, by another crew, wearing his hat, and he was supposed to not wear it as a sign of union unity.
