MKEBound on here had his First Amendment rights violated at MKE for writing "Kip Hawley is an idiot" on his plastic baggie. They detained him for 25 minutes, harassed him and told him that his rights didn't apply at the checkpoint (which they clearly do). It made national news. That's just one example.

Those who choose to fly without ID because they wish to preserve their privacy will no longer be able to fly tomorrow thanks to Kippie's new regulation. If you forget it ... it's ok. No more SSSS just for not wanting to show it. That infringes on the right to free movement and association.

When you fly, you agree to the policies set forth by the TSA who's been given jurisdiction by the Federal Government.
I don't agree with them. That's like grabbing someone by the short and curlies and asking them to agree to something before you let go.

Besides, there's a term in law called unconscionable. If something is found to be unconscionable, meaning totally unfair and unjust that it can't be enforced in a contract even if someone "agrees" to it. Some of what TSA does is unreasonable. I'd argue that a lot of what it does in conscionable.

Why is it that we seem to forget the past?
Here comes the famous "remember 9/11" mantra again

Right after 9/11 everyone was in TOTAL agreement when it came to increased security because it gave them a sense of well being in the terminals and in the air.
I wouldn't speak for everyone. I think many agreed that security need to be looked at to find out what failed. We found that it was the highest levels ignoring a threat when it was presented to them before hand and the mentality of cooperating with hijackers. Ground security didn't fail. No one at the time thought a hijacking would turn a plane into a missile. Those holes were subsequently closed.

Now that some are inconvenienced by a few minutes for an extra screening here and there, things turn to talk of civil liberty disturbance and Nazism…common people…gimmie a break!
We're inconvenienced by more than a few minutes. TSA does little to keep us safe while arguably infringing on various rights. Nazism is a bit strong. Then again, the Nazis didn't rise to power overnight but rather little by little.

Has anyone been cavity searched unjustifiably by the TSA?
Not yet, though they have crossed the line with some searches (drop your pants, etc). Kippie's already pushing out backscatter scanners that equate to virtual strip searches. I think it's just a matter of time before it happens.

Has anyone missed a flight because of something the TSA has done for no good apparent reason? (Can you tell I feel like ranting?)
Read this forum. They abound.

I, for one, appreciate the additional measures taken…and if it inconveniences me a little bit…oh well. I live with it.
I appreciate measures taken that enhance security. The vast majority of TSA's measures don't. They only add difficulty, harassment and wasted time. They make people feel safe, but there's even evidence that that dog and pony show is starting to fail too.

We could go back to having Soldiers carrying automatic weapons around the terminals…how would you feel then?
You mean the National Guard guys that carried unloaded weapons? We'd just be replacing one form of security theater for another.
