Ive stayed in 400+ Euro rooms both on Pts and $$$, and have no problem taking reg public transport. I rather enjoy it, as Im most likely not gonna run into those people except on PT. In HNL the reg bus did/does it for me. I usually am away for 1 week at most and travel with a garmet bag and carry-on rollerboard.
Most recently in VIE the Express Train was 8 Euro more then the reg into the city and took all of 8 mins longer, going with the reg train.
I can afford a taxi or limo w/o any problems but actually enjoy tarveling with the locals, and experiencing it.
Now if I was traveling with reg checked bags , then PT wouldnt be an option. Then I either rent-a-car or taxi/limo it.
This is an interesting conversation. I've stayed at the Cav several times and each have taken exclusively public transport. I do not find enjoyment in sharing my Euro's, dollars, Yen or Rand with the Italian taxi cartel and enjoy the interaction with the Romans. Also, stopping in P Barb is enjoyable before heading up the hill.
I do wish the bus ran past 20:00, but force myself into a taxi when out later. Some of us a simpletons are satisfied to congregate with the little people on public transport:-)
