Actually, yes. That's the concept known as
communication. If, in general, your interpretation of what you said or wrote always took precedence over what the other person understood, then we have a problem. Perhaps it is something particular to the Japanese, and that would certainly explain why Mr. Kato is so inscrutable. My cat Smidgen also behaves that way, but he lives in his own little alternate furry universe anyway.
