From the TSA announcement:
Cooperative passengers without ID may <ha! read that as will> be subjected to additional screening protocols, including enhanced physical screening, enhanced carry-on and/or checked baggage screening, interviews with behavior detection or law enforcement officers and other measures.
Where's a good place to hide an ID so it can't be found in a search? As a woman, I know where I would put mine.

Better, ship a firearm/ammunition and seal the ID in the gun case since they always have to be locked during transport (and I never use a TSA lock). I don't think any airport LEO would take kindly to a TSO insisting on having access to an unlocked/opened firearm case in the sterile area.

You could also FedEx the wallet to your destination...provided you don't mind driving to the airport without your DL on you.

Personally, since I wear an ID around my neck all day (yes, 3tal, on a lanyard ) and usually forget it's there when I get to the airport, I've never encountered the extra ID scrutiny when I show the govvie ID.
