Agree with SW...off the beaten path and France in summer...
..not a chance...me and mrs homerj just got back from france yesterday and the lines at eiffel tower/louvre/versaille etc. were appalling...even in the lovely little towns of provence the tourist hourdes were there..and this was mid may...in July....no way. Regards to gas pricing we had a small turbo diesel (ford max) and it costs us 85E in diesel to go about 1000km, so its not a wash its still more expensive than here. Sorry unlike the US were stuff is a bargain..the Euro has gone up with the $CDN and its expensive. Hotels were running us in the 300E/night range..you get the idea. I like one of the other posters suggestions of Argentina or Chile...cooler weather..great scenery not so overcrowded or expensive.
