Nice story, albeit a touch wordy, but I'm not sure it makes the point you think it does. Your upgrade wasn't random, it was connected to you being a pleasant human being on a day when airline staff were experiencing a lot of unpleasantness.
It's nice that someone made a gesture in response. And it's precisely because you weren't angling for a freebie that I'm sure no one here will begrudge you your 'reward'.
But I don't see a connection to the OP's desire to be "congratulated" by AA for getting married.
