Ok, in answer to the original question about fast-track to PL... i'm afraid it's a NO. The reason is because whenever LY do have mileage promotions they are 'basic points' which mean they don't count towards status.

One way round your problem would be to do some mileage runs in the US on AA Domestic in FIRST as you can earn the following points which i think are considered 'Standard Points' and would enable you to hit the 5,000 mark at a much cheaper price.

0-500 miles (One-Way)
20 points
30 points
40 points

501-1500
30 points
45 points
60 points

1501-2500
40 points
60 points
80 points

If I'm wrong / misinformed, could someone else in the forum clarify.
