If someone doesn't want to buy antivirus software, there is a decent free alternative in the free version of AVG ( http://free.grisoft.com/ )

Also, to the OP: in rare cases, there are important things in temp before you reboot. I'd recommend rebooting before deleting anything in temp... anything left in there after a reboot will be safe to delete. This would be like installers for really, really old software.
