Back to why this doesn't hold water in the first place. Is it SOP to at least physically display a significant area of bare skin when a joint replacement sets off the hand held wand? The presumption here would have been that the only way to guarantee that the piercings were the source of the alarm and not a 'cover' for some kind of prohibited item implanted in her breasts was to remove them (the items of jewelry!). If TSA is trying to maintain that this is SOP, then what about joint replacements?
