Same here but in the opposite order....items go in bags first and then get rolled. Leaves a layer of bag protection and friction reduction that makes it easier for the fabric to slide somewhat without sliding against itself and causing wrinkles.

For a long time, though, I was a folder....until I found out how hard it is to get folded clothes into the saddlebags on my motorcycle. Rolling works really well in that application and leaves virtually no wrinkles.
