dozens of hotels with rooms well under 10,000yen
At some backpacker hotels you can stay for as little as 2,500yen
Apart from a couple of peak periods these rates are easy to find.
(College exam season can be a tough time).
Food:
It's very easy to find an excellent lunch for less than 800yen
