I agree with you 100%, annerj as that is the only way to achieve consistency. I would happily make a motion to that effect if we could just find some supreme being worthy of task of judging each individual post.

This would have to be someone who has perfect objectivity and judment in all things and who is willing to read each and every post (past, present and future) to determine whether or not that post deserves to count. This Judge would have to be someone whom every FlyerTalker respected without question, to the point that they would happily accept his/her decision as to the worthiness of each post, without any question whatsoever.

Despite their claims and posturing to the contrary, all the FlyerTalkers that I know, who might be available for this job are mere, fallible mortals, who come to the table with their own bag so full of prejudice against particular posters, forums and subjects, that I am afraid they would only do more harm than good if they were set up to play supreme being.

For that reason, I have decided to vote "Yes" OMNI posts should count.

IMHO, the ideal situation would have been to continue to allow OMNI posts to count and establish a separate "Play Pen", where posts did not count from the start, to allow the gamesters to play to their hearts content without upsetting the folks who seem to care who has the most posts. That sounded to me like a reasonable balance.

Unfortunately, once again, a FT feature was destroyed by a small handful of abusers and our discussion along those lines was curtailed by Randy's abrupt decision to stop OMNI posts from counting, which resulted in this current motion. My undestanding was that this motion was basically just a request that Randy back up and allow us to continue our deliberations and get to the point where we could make a considered recommendation that he then could accept or reject as he saw fit. That is how I thought TalkBoard was supposed to work

I want to thank all of you for your input, especially folks like Kiwi Flyer who actually put together a solid reason, based on his own experience, to support his opinion.

This was a valuable discussion that allowed many folks to express their feelings and I want to thank Randy and the moderators for allowing it to continue. Painful as it sometimes might have been at times be to wade through all the posts, open, honest discussions like this, where everyone has the opportunity to be heard, are very healthy both for the individuals involved, as well as entire communities such as ours.
